Summary
The lives of children who have experienced maltreatment, trauma and/or adversity can be positively shaped and influenced by the involvement of supportive educators. The adoption of trauma informed approaches within classrooms and the creation of nurturing environments in schools can help to promote resilience in students, can reach at-risk children and promote positive outcomes, even in the face of trauma and adversity. The other modules in this course will provide additional insight on specific adverse experiences, particularly physical, emotional and sexual abuse and bullying, as well as providing information on how to respond to these issues and encourage resilience in young students.
